Description

Here at the Disclosure and Barring Service, safeguarding vulnerable groups is at the heart of everything we do. We issue almost 6 million DBS checks every year, providing information to employers and organisations, so they can prevent unsuitable people from working with children or vulnerable adults. We also make complex decisions about whether to bar somebody from getting jobs in certain sectors. This is a pivotal moment in the future of DBS, it is the start of major change and we are looking for people who can hit the ground running. In this role you can be directly responsible for shaping the future of our organisation.

The Commercial Director will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team with accountability for the day to day management of the Commercial and Commissioning function. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership experience and commercial capability at senior management level and be adept at nurturing and building strategic relationships with a wide range of public sector stakeholders. Working closely with the CEO and the Chair you will design and implement a cost-effective commercial service to support the delivery of the company’s business mission.

You will bring a breadth of commercial and contract management experience and be adept in designing complex and often bespoke procurement programmes. You will have a proven track record of developing the expertise and capability of teams in order to meet evolving demands,  you will have the character and personality required to engage and collaborate both with colleagues and external stakeholders across the public sector.
